This isn’t my first time at City Place at Night— having fallen in love with their breakfast, I’ve since returned for drinks and dinner, and it never disappoints. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed, warm evening out.
The drinks selection is fantastic, and the food is absolutely outstanding. My fillet steak was incredibly tender and full of flavour, and their peppercorn sauce was the perfect accompaniment. Most recently I visited for Valentine’s Day, where live music added a wonderful touch to an already great atmosphere. The staff are attentive and genuinely caring, and the owners are a real highlight — you can tell they put their heart into the place. Whether you’re after a proper dinner or just drinks and good conversation, I’d recommend City Place to everyone!

Came for a quick morning brekky. The avocado on toast was really nice but the sausage Beigel was delicious. Just like I used to have at home. The beigels are proper east end Jewish beigels. None of this bagel nonsense. The vegan sausages were delicious as well with some fried onions and brown sauce. Couldn't have asked for better. Lady running it was lovely too.

We’ve popped in here quite a few times now and the place always has this warm, easy atmosphere that pulls you in.
Service drifts a little slow every now and then, though to be honest it makes sense because the place stays packed.
The food keeps winning me over. Everything has that comforting, well-made feel and the portions lean generous. The soup with the sourdough is something I always end up recommending to people. The truffle chicken panini has become one of those dishes I find myself craving. There’s usually parking along the high street, which makes getting here a bit easier.

Me and my girlfriend went to City Place for the Jazz night on Friday. We had a really good evening, the food was 5*, the singer was amazing and the service was great. Would recommend for a night out! We went back today for a roast with our children. Another great meal, the best roast we’ve had in a long time. We will be back soon. Thank you!

Three friends and I had dinner at City Place last night, on one of their Friday jazz evenings. What a fabulous treat! The food was excellent (high-quality burgers, with delicious frites and coleslaw), and the entertainment (the Esta Rae Jazz Duo, featuring Esta Rae on vocals and Bob Haddrell on piano) was absolutely superb! The restaurant was full and had a lovely atmosphere, and we all enjoyed ourselves very much! I would highly recommend this local gem.

I have recently moved to Wanstead and this has already become my favourite cafe! Coffee was great and the veggie breakfast one of the best I have ever had. Staff is lovely and the atmosphere is immaculate.

Never been here, first time inside and I love it. Really warm service, friendly, great menu. The vegan pastry I had was out of this world. Wish I'd come earlier!
